I don't know what you mean to me

I might be mistaken, but I find it funny that in 2x05 and 2x08, Carmy definitely labels Claire a friend. Yet, with Sydney, we have yet to hear what she is to him. In Season 1, Episode 7, Tina introduces Sydney as Carmy's friend but we don't hear the words from Carmy himself.

Early on in Season 2, it's clear that Sydney sees Carmy as her partner. What kind of partner is the question.

There were two missed opportunities for Carmy to introduce and define what Sydney means to him—the food tour was missed for Carmy to introduce Sydney to his connections. In 2x05, when Claire introduces herself, Carmy still introduces Claire as his friend while missing the opportunity to introduce Sydney as a friend or partner. Example:

Carmy: this is Claire. This is my friend Claire. Claire, this is Sydney my business partner.

Like the strange currencies lyrics, Carmy does not know what or who Sydney is to him. It's what he's trying to figure out throughout the show. He knows she makes him better; he knows he's always trying with her and giving her gifts, and he tries to give her the world.

So how can some viewers define Sydney and Carmy as platonic when Carmy has yet to say the words himself?

Watching from the shadows, hating that he was never brave enough, never made his move, now he has to watch some Slimy Rich Russian Bastard get in Price's knickers, with his wealth, his charm, his swagger, and it is eating Ghost alive.

The crowd explodes with the reappearance of one Brendon Urie and Eddie is feeling better about this decision already.
